Job Summary:

The Trade Compliance Manager will collaborate with various stakeholders across multiple manufacturing and distribution facilities to standardize business processes in an effort to deliver compliant results.

 

To be successful in this role, the individual must be comfortable working with little supervision while demonstrating excellent attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills. This role reports to the Director of Supply Chain.

 

Job Responsibilities: 

Act as primary point of contact and go to Subject Matter Expert between Company sites. This includes working with carriers, government entities, customs brokers and designated affiliates regarding trade compliance.

 

Risk Reduction and Savings:

  • Manage relationships with customs brokers while conducting broker audits for import and export, including requesting, processing, and tracking Post Summary Corrections.
  • Process requests from customers, suppliers, brokers, and customs authorities.
  • Build rapport with Company sites and handle day-to-day trade compliance issues while working to get ahead of delayed shipments.
  • Aid product management team in the review and updating of harmonized tariff (HTS) codes and country of origin for all products.
  • Support existing Free Trade Agreements to ensure the annual collection of country-of-origin information from suppliers and certificate of origin are in place.
  • Support the tracking and declaration of Assists or Value Reconciliation to customs authorities.
  • Apply knowledge of customs regulations and participating government agency requirements across Mexico, Canada, and the U.S. to a variety of products.
  • Establish a robust record retention program for import records.
  • Maintain the Duty Drawback program and seek out new opportunities for savings.
  • Stay abreast of antidumping & countervailing duty investigations, orders that can affect products working with teams to determine potential product changes to avoid duties.
  • Participate in completion of internal audit reporting
  • Responsible for maintenance of import/export compliance lists and part designations such as ‘dual use’
  • Request and archive Company Code of Conduct compliance and acceptance by approved vendors and distributors
  • Oversee completion of routine background checks on exports to at-risk countries

 

Automation and Standardization:

  • Work to become a Subject Matter Expert with our trade compliance software platform.
  • Create and conduct training on trade compliance topics.
  • Spearhead efforts to create localized Standard Operating Procedures and work instructions Company based on the company-wide Trade Compliance Manual.
  • Support projects for master data cleanup and data governance.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of the Mexico IMMEX and Maquiladora programs a plus.
  • Solid grasp of USMCA requirements
  • Familiarity with Section 301 tariffs
  • Up to date on current tariff implementation and impacts
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Comfort in working with ERP system
