JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for planning, organizing, executing, and managing all aspects of the Mexican business units. The Vice President, of Southern Border Operations will strive to provide superior service delivery and support the Business Development team to create a best-in-class client experience while fostering a team environment that positively motivates staff to achieve peak performance. They are responsible for staying ahead and adapting the business to all new regulatory matters while ensuring that the company is 100% compliant in all activities.

The Vice President, of Southern Border Operations builds strong client relationships as a proactive business partner resulting in his/her being a solution provider embedded in the client’s long-term growth plan who anticipates client needs.

The Vice President, Southern Border Operations is responsible for delivering best-in-class, customer-focused solutions for the US Southern Border, and Mexico.  

They will create an organizational environment that stimulates the morale, creativity, and productivity of the warehouse, and operational teams located in the US Southern Border and Mexico.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develops and implements the overall Mexican strategy and business plan for the organization, including short/long-term roadmaps 
  • Establishes strong relationships to improve processes, reporting, and service
  • Collaborate with IT and other 3rd parties to maintain or enhance system abilities to gain efficiency and reporting capabilities 
  • Working in conjunction with the Business Development Team to create and execute a business growth plan, client retention, and org. structure
  • Work with the Director of Compliance to identify customer opportunities in valuation, classification, qualification, solicitation, FTAs, customs audits, and duty drawback

Financial and Operational Management:

  • Prepare, analyze, and report on monthly productivity and financial results 
  • Develop and implement operational plans in collaboration with necessary parties aligned at taking operations to the next level including Lean, 5s, Kaizen, TQM, and continuous improvement 
  • Ensure all clients have Service Level Agreements (SLAs) 
  • Plan, organize, and monitor all activities including structuring shared services
  • Set, maintain, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) 
  • Consult with significant business partners, carriers, freight agents, and trade associations, including Servicio de Administración Tributaria (SAT), and Mexican Brokers with a specific emphasis on systems and dataflow 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MBA and/or bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related degree 
  • Fifteen plus (15+) years of experience, including 5 years providing strategic and inclusive leadership of a team/organization continually demonstrating business, technical and leadership qualities 
  • Experience with Truck, Air, Ocean, and Rail MX customs entries as well as post-entry adjustments, and Mexican Consulting (including the IMMEX program) 
  • Passion for entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership 
  • An authentic, open, and engaging leadership style that fosters collaboration, credibility, and accountability that can project manage to achieve milestones
  • Skill in analyzing current procedures and then developing and executing new processes 
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and Customs Brokerage software with the ability to quickly learn new applications  
  • Experience with advanced data analytics and Power BI preferred 
  • Bilingual (fluent in both Spanish & English) 
  • Opportunity to work in an in-office work environment with the expectation of regular travel (1 week per month) to the Corporate Office, and satellite offices located in Canada, the US, and Mexico. 
  • Must be legally eligible to work for the Company at all times
  • Valid Passport and ability and desire to occasionally travel to USA/Canada
