Global Trade Compliance Manager, Technology & Development
JOB SUMMARY:
As a steward of the GTC program, this position is responsible for advancing the overall knowledge and awareness of trade requirements and restrictions across the global Company employee community, including fully leveraging system-based solutions with a heavy focus on streamlining and process optimization to achieve cost-effective solutions. This role requires the ability to manage multiple highly visible cross-border projects and priorities involving various functions and organizations and at varying levels within those organizations, up to and including business leaders. Effective presence and visibility are critical, including clear, tactful, and responsive communication and expert presentation skills. The incumbent will need to consistently solve emergent tactical challenges while maintaining a laser focus on the “big picture.” This role requires analytical and critical thinking as the standard approach and the ability to influence and drive results outside of reporting lines. Demonstrated success managing and/or leading cross-functional projects teams is required, as is applying continuous improvement approaches to streamline and/or mistake-proof compliance processes. A key success factor to this role is proliferating a customer focus.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- System/platform implementation and integration lead
- Functional representative (“track lead” for GTC) supporting various critical cross-functional / international ERM implementation projects.
- Implementation project owner and system subject matter expert (SME) for OCR trade management software platform, ensuring that applicable system functionalities are fully leveraged.
- Accountable for on-time/on-budget execution. Directly supports development, testing, and ‘hyper-care’ stages, as applicable.
- Global trade compliance training and development Program Owner
- Accountable for global trade compliance program, “right-sized” according to audience/subject matter across global employee base.
- This includes content, execution, and recordkeeping across various topics, including classification, restricted party screening, etc.
- Support full-cycle deployment of GTC policies and procedures from scoping and drafting to training.
- Provides training personally in-person, online, or via recorded content.
- Accountable for global trade compliance program, “right-sized” according to audience/subject matter across global employee base.
- Technology optimization SME
- Responsible for identifying IT-based process enhancements and solutions, such as AI, chats, bots, robot learning, etc.; determining feasibility/ROI, and executing implementation, as applicable.
- Implement and manage various resource management tools, e.g., workflows, request/ticketing systems, etc.
- Enable scenario modelling, testing tools
- GTC data integrity lead
- Constantly monitor for changes in applicable regulations, interpret and implement changes
- Deploy robust and standardized import/export classification processes, including design and deployment of decision tools, quick reference guides, etc.
- Drive master data-related enhancement projects
- Deployment of collaboration tools, transfer and recordkeeping methods, etc., e.g., intangible transfers. Implement “centers of excellence” strategy.
- Prepare and report Metrics / KPI.
- Support self-assessment, audit programs; actively drive robust root cause corrective action (RCCA) and continuous improvement efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated effective driving projects / implementing programs in for a large and complex international company or law firm.
- Critical, analytical thinker – able to distill complex topics and understand and interpret detailed laws and regulations.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, able to manage dynamic priority changes.
- Advanced skills set regarding information technology systems, communications, and software environments and cross-platform design and integration.
- 5-10 years of trade compliance experience and a desire for deep career expertise in this area.
- Undergraduate engineering or similar technical focus.
- Master’s or graduate-level education or advanced certification in a relevant subject matter domain
- Lawyer or corporate legal experience is a plus
