Responsibilities:
- Designs mechanical and electromechanical products and systems by developing and testing specifications and methods.
- Evaluates mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research programs and applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and materials.
- Confirms system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods and properties.
- Develops mechanical and electromechanical products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials; and soliciting observations from operators.
- Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components.
- Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Provides engineering information by answering questions and requests.
- Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
- Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures; and requesting special services.
- Maintains system and product database by writing computer programs and entering data.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Completes engineering projects by organizing and controlling project elements.
- Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans and conferring with management and the rest of the Team.
- Completes technical studies.
- Confirms product performance by designing and conducting tests.
- Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project elements.
- Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems.
- Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, and recommending actions.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Maintains project database by writing computer programs, entering, and backing up data.
- Maintains product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Approves new equipment by conducting tests, ensuring adherence to codes, and making modifications.
- Installs new equipment by establishing, adjusting, calibrating, and testing performance.
- Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance schedules, conducting tests, and troubleshooting and repairing malfunctions.
- Calls for special equipment service, evaluates service contracts, and maintains equipment inventories.
- Evaluates proposed equipment by conducting tests and evaluations.
- Improves equipment performance by studying machine-patient interaction, conferring with equipment users, developing modifications, and collaborating with manufacturers.
- Maintains supplies & inventory by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing, and expediting orders, and verifying receipt.
- Oversees and assesses existing processes and workflows.
- Optimizes productivity by designing, implementing, and testing new procedures.
- Assembles reports to document process status and changes.
- Tracks metrics to discover areas for improvement and monitor upgrades.
- Communicates findings and proposals to upper management.
- Provides thorough instructions for the successful implementation of process changes.
- Conducts risk assessments.
- Assesses compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.
- Contributes to departmental efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
Qualifications/Skills:
- CAD Practical Experience – SolidWorks preferred, but others considered.
- Strong attention to detail. Ability to see beyond their Silo – aware of the impact of change.
- Fast Learner - Proven ability to identify, assess and solve problems.
- Strong Analytical and math skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient with computers and MS Office products
- Knowledge of process engineering software systems
- Familiarity with Medical Device regulations
- Formal Documentation skills
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
- Successful Experience is more valuable than an advanced degree.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field preferred
- Previous experience in design, quality, or business process engineering
- Previous experience working with CAD and AutoCAD (prefer SolidWorks)
- Knowledge of Sterilization, Calibration, Clinical Procedures, Lab testing, and Documentation Control is very valuable.
